Beautiful Noise Public Relations & Marketing was founded in 2008 by Joe Richardson, a veteran of the industry since 1992.
Joe began his career in Los Angeles at The Donahue Group, representing its fashion and luxury clients including Tiffany & Co., Ermenegildo Zegna and Yves Saint Laurent before he relocated to Manhattan in 1996. That year he joined DeVries Public Relations, working with a diverse range of clients including Piaget, Lane Bryant and QVC home shopping before continuing in the luxury vein; first as a Partner at J. Walter Thompson, working with diamond giant De Beers managing trade publicity and crisis communications, and later as the Public Relations Manager at Cartier, overseeing brand and boutique publicity for the Eastern United States.
In 2001 he was hired by Mercedes-Benz USA to direct brand, lifestyle and regional communications. Supported by a team of six, Joe created innovative press events, bespoke editorial opportunities resulting in feature-length publicity, and unique media “Ride & Drives.” He managed publicity for the brand at motor shows, and led relationships with industry press associations such as IMPA (International Motor Press Association), WAJ (Western Automotive Journalists), and NEMPA (New England Motor Press Association). Internationally he hosted top-tier journalists on press junkets to global “First Drives” of new products; motor shows including Frankfurt, Geneva and Paris; and press programs throughout much of Europe and also Russia. Joe directed communications for Mercedes-Benz Classic Center, based in Irvine, CA, and developed its platforms at the prestigious Concours d’Elegance events in Pebble Beach, CA, and Amelia Island, FL.
In the spring of 2008, Joe returned to Los Angeles and founded Beautiful Noise Public Relations & Marketing. Daimler AG was the first to join the firm for representation in the entertainment sector, including publicity for its product placement and marketing partnerships with television and motion pictures including “Sex and the City: The Movie,” and the seeding of new products such as Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC clean diesel with Hollywood influencers. In February 2009, Beautiful Noise Public Relations & Marketing managed publicity for “Mercedes-Benz Celebrates Hollywood’s Biggest Night” in Beverly Hills, a gala salute to the Academy Awards.
In March 2009, BMW Group DesignworksUSA, the global strategic design consultancy with studios in Los Angeles, Munich and Singapore, selected Beautiful Noise Public Relations & Marketing to heighten consumer awareness of its brand. DesignworksUSA is the creative partner to BMW Group’s portfolio of automotive brands including MINI, BMW, and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars; further, DesignworksUSA’s third-party clients include Hewlett Packard HP, Boeing Business Jets, Embraer, and Microsoft. Since February 2010, Beautiful Noise has been retained by Ferrari North America to manage its editorial relationships on the West Coast, and to support editorial placement with outlets nationwide.
